count down to st patrick’s day…

The bottom line facts…

St Patrick’s Day has become a significant holiday since I’ve been in Australia due to my amount of Irish mates here and overseas (shout out to Cathal!).

I never really understood celebrating St Patrick’s Day until I started rolling with the Irish.

I end up hearing pub songs played by various Irish cult members throughout the year so we can sing. And in case you don’t recall, I’m not a singer... St Patrick’s Day is the only time where not singing seems nearly as rude as not drinking Jameson and Guinness… and Kilkenny.

A friend in Ireland once told me he met some Aussies and had no prior knowledge of their drinking skills… Six more sleeps ’til the festivities commence!

St Patrick’s Day also holds special meaning to me as an unconverted pagan.

… and I’m glad he got rid of the snakes too.

Ok Gretch we’re going to teach you a proper Irish welcome for Paddy’s day (i’ll even write it phonetically underneath)

‘Conás á tá de caissuir de crochachá
(cunn ass a thaw de coss hur de crook a ha)

It means “Hows your hammer hangin” :)

Oh by the way, I know two people from Lord Howe Island and they’re shite drinkers :) but maybe the islanders are special :)

HAHAHAHAH!!! You do realize I’ll be writing that on my arm in green next week… both arms… one phonetically :-D !!

In addition to my personal genetic make up, I like to think I’ve got enough experience behind me at this stage that I can drink with my Irish friends… although St Patrick’s Day drinking certainly raises the bar ;-) !!
