one more allen stone

June 19, 2014 Posted by gretchen

I’m really trying to move on blog family, I swear. I’ve even been noveling in between Allen Stone posts. However,¬†coffee just came out of my nose reading a Billboard piece revealing that Allen Stone’s first festival show was actually out in LA, right before I saw him in Central Park on¬†Tuesday.

“So wait?” I told myself. “The hottest, realest soul voice in this country, and one of the best on Earth I boldy declare – has only played like, one festival in the States?” Then I giggled.

Get ready Yankees. (more…)

allen stone and jon butler trio. summer stage.

June 15, 2014 Posted by gretchen

Allen Stone and Jon Butler Trio are playing summer stage this Tuesday and I am SO ABOUT IT! Many of the local yanks aren’t quite switched on to Jon Butler Trio yet, the Aussies naturally know what’s good. Also, I like writing poems to his music. I can’t wait! Interestingly, I was not switched on to Allen Stone until I googled him after I bought a pair of tickets last Friday. Holy shit am I glad I did that! And now you know too!! You’re welcome!! (more…)

Namaste blog tribe

IMG_6358 Today I go back to work. It’s literally the first time in my life that I am actually looking forward to returning to work after a holiday. Part of that is because my current job is my favorite and best. The second reason is because there was unexpected turmoil over the last few days of vacation that spit me out the other side just wanting to return to some type of basic routine. (more…)

off to camp

June 7, 2013 Posted by gretchen

I’m going camping tomorrow. I’m packing the puppies and a boy and we’re driving two hours away to eleven acres of green complete with tiny electricity-less shack.

My book has been talking a lot to my brain lately. I recently reformed a few chapters and finally started to compile an ending. I’m looking forward to having the last week of June off to string more pieces together with shades of description and a new face here or there.IMG_4640

Yesterday I learned that in addition to the roof I ordinarily spend time on, I can actually access a second rooftop area that’s 44 stories up. I stood up there staring across Manhattan rooftops last night with the same feeling of, “Holy shit, I can’t believe I actually got myself set up here” feeling that doesn’t leave.

Still, my feet are itchy for something. Something that likely falls into the realm of holiday, book finishing, new plan scripting.

Blah blah blah… for now, all I am interested in is making smores tomorrow. I was quite surprised about my Australian family’s lack of awareness regarding smores – particularly when they have such spectacular barbecues.

I’m looking forward to standing beside a fire and infusing my body with smoky strips. I’ll probably eat a burnt veggie sausage off of a charred tree branch. Peanut and Franky will so happy. And I bet I see stars too. New York City has nearly everything I need, but lacks my one and only non-begotiable requirement aside from puppies…

Stars are critical.

change this. fix that.

IMG_3880The blah-g is mess-ville love tribe. Our loyal cult affiliates likely noticed the new template. I’ve used this one before, it seems like a reasonable band-aid. I’ve done about 1,100 posts. The terms “category” and “tag” are very loose in these parts.

Last night I was looking at various pretty blogs. While I like how mine has the appearance of an old scrapbook, covered in coffee stains with favorite pages dog-eared – I need… I don’t know. Order?

There are a lot of places where I need to keep my life very organized. Like paying my zillion dollar rent on time, and sling syllables effectively and on-time at work. I understand that the chaos of FollowMeToNYC content could be more efficiently explored with a touch of organization…

IMG_3843But seriously, mate, I can’t be stuffed. I’m crazy busy running around Central Park and sitting on my roof finishing off Novel.

Cue Craigslist.

My plan is to go on Craiglist and recruit someone to read things and also… yes. I’m not quite sure what goes into cleaning up 43 months of my life into, I don’t know… a pretty blah-g?

This encompasses living in two countries, four states, seven abodes, two (down to sadly one) puppies, two (thankfully down to zero) husbands, a handful of jobs, my favorite and best job with also, three poetry books, a movie and a handful of stories and novel bits.

Sweet Lord. Send me a Craiglist Angel.

I’m going to work on penning an advertisement today. If it’s interesting enough, I’ll post it in these parts later on.

Dear Craigslist

Please send an organizer-web-pixie of sorts to wave a wand at my page in exchange for my wordsmith style.

Love, Gretchen
