As a Writer, no where has opportunities like New York City… in my humble opinion. And no place else has New Yorkers…

Watching the sunrise in Queens a few days back, one of my favorite people and I were discussing New Yorkers. He made me laugh saying something like ‘We’re the only “-ers”, New Yorkers… You don’t have Los Angeles-ers or Chicago-ers.’ I chimed in with ‘Same in Australia, no Melbourne-ers… Sydney tries to have “Sydney-siders”, which is whack to begin with.’

My mother told me this morning that New Yorkers are a big part of why I love the city. ‘They’re like you,’ she said. ‘They’ll talk to anyone walking down the street, that’s why you like it there, because that’s how you are.’ Continue reading…

down came the rain & washed the spider out…

Whenever I tell people that I live in Australia they start rattling off the top most poisonous things they’ve heard that live here. For example, ‘Isn’t Australia that place with the snakes that eat babies and killer sharks… and those frogs…’

To some extent… yes. But it’s mostly the spiders and ants and other bite-y creatures I try to avoid.

This morning a spider that reminded me of the hermit crabs we used to see in beach shops down the shore was lounging outside my front door. I have no idea which spiders are poisonous and which ones devour humans in their entirety. When I consulted a local about the spider he said, ‘I wouldn’t worry too much. It’s only half the size of the blue one I saw up in Cairns.’ Continue reading…

Today is Day 33 that I’ve been back in Brisbane. As can be confirmed prior to me leaving in October… I’m done with this town. The weather has been FABULOUS as have the frequent bush romps in coastal wonderlands north and south of me… but I need to move. Continue reading…

I went and saw Alice in Wonderland. I heart Tim Burton and Johnny Depp.

After seeing the Tim Burton exhibit at MoMA in New York City a few weeks ago, I was super excited. I literally beamed in delight when WALT DISNEY PICTURES came up on the movie screen. Continue reading…

Last night started off with climbing trees and ended up with karaoke. And for the record I do NOT sing karaoke. I have no issue standing in front a New York City crowd and spitting funnies… but you will never find me propped between a mic stand and a host named Eddie leading the room in a chorous of We are the champions. Continue reading…

I’ve been considering going to some open mics. I may have mentioned previously my logic for getting into stand-up comedy. Mainly it’s direct feedback for Writing. I’ve said time and time again I don’t really care what type of Writing I’m doing, as long as my time involves building things with words, I’m usually happy. Continue reading…

The other night I mentioned on Twitter that I was going to write a story about a staircase and a balmy night. Then I got distracted and wrote some book.

In any event, every evening where I presently reside is balmy at the moment. It’s quite lovely when the sun goes down.

Here is how recent PM hours inspired my poetry… Continue reading…
