While Jersey has gotten a few shout-outs in my webland pocket, I’ve never impulsively jumped a bus there. Not until yesterday…
That’s right blog tribe, I bussed it to Jersey yesterday. Why? Exactly.
Sometimes things just happen.
The bus adventure was entertaining. First I went to Penn Station instead of Port Authority. I think the whole “P” word / west side thing scrambled my brains a bit. Fortunately, I was still listening to Allen Stone with a backpack of notebooks and ink – so I wasn’t tooo bothered with the wander between stations. Continue reading
It’s about half past 3am in midtown. #justsayin
I’m really trying to move on blog family, I swear. I’ve even been noveling in between Allen Stone posts. However, coffee just came out of my nose reading a Billboard piece revealing that Allen Stone’s first festival show was actually out in LA, right before I saw him in Central Park on Tuesday.
“So wait?” I told myself. “The hottest, realest soul voice in this country, and one of the best on Earth I boldy declare – has only played like, one festival in the States?” Then I giggled.

I’ve been all on about Allen Stone lately, but you know how I get. Obsessive. All morning there was a tune in my head. It was not from the Jon Butler Trio tracks I was swaying to. It was Allen Stone, but what was the hook? I think I remember a few words… it’s only the first time I ever heard it, after all. I kicked my heels coming across Million shortly after a brief interweb session. The last time I double posted in a day obsessing over a band was back in 2011, to Graveyard Train, back in Australia.
That song is currently free on Allen Stone’s homepage, grab it!
“If you want to get loose, then just learn to pivot.” – Allen Stone
Enjoy blog family! For the local New Yorkers, it’s 31C outside, around 82. It’s the hottest day the city has seen this summer. Some of my favorite stories are born on nights like this. Off you go to practice sweating, swaying, shimmying and any other hot city night activities we get up to.
Jon Bulter Trio and Allen Stone were UNREAL! I woke up this morning proudly sporting my Allen Stone tshirt and immediately put on my new, SIGNED John Bulter Trio album.
I’m stuck on track four… Bullet Girl.
Both acts last night rocked my world. My companion and I shouldered our way to the front and proudly, wildly, danced, hollared, clapped and shimmied our faces off. There was a small group of Aussies to my left there representing. I felt homesick for a hot minute…
I must say, while Jon Butler Trio was undoubtably brilliant. Allen Stone rocked the shit out of that stage like few acts I have seen. The aura to this boy bursts violet and gold, and his pipes fill the atmosphere with delicious soul that tornadoes in your guts. Continue reading
