writing exercises. writer’s RETREAT.

The weekend of the Writer’s Retreat has arrived! I am scampering around my tiny cottage packing empty notebooks, new pens, fresh ink, story books, pieces to workshop and other goodies…

It’s important for Artists to get together and help each other with their work. Most of us don’t do this enough because life gets in the way and many Writers I know blush and change the topic when their work comes up.

Speaking of practice, I came across a few pieces this morning that I put together to polish my pen – short licks based on prompts that one day might grow into something, perhaps this weekend.

Here’s one I came across…

Write a piece including titles of two books, songs, and magazines that starts with I would love to show you…

I would love to show you a cut path through these leaves of grass and I know how I tend to talk in riddles… but ponder on this…

Your rolling stone throne tumbled past and I swooped back to avoid a crash. It was actually quite a simple task to achieve; the waiting nearly killed me.

Juicy lips spin me to a state taller than the overgrown reeds I prefer to duck below. But your flow extended me above what I might be used to.

And so we tumbled down the hill together.
